The static pressure box is a necessary accessory in the air supply system that reduces dynamic pressure, increases static pressure, stabilizes airflow, and reduces airflow vibration, making the air supply effect more ideal. The static pressure box is a device that allows airflow to pass through while effectively blocking or weakening the transmission of sound energy to the outside.
Classification of sound attenuation
1. Resistive silencer: It absorbs sound energy to reduce noise through sound-absorbing materials attached inside the box, generally used to eliminate high and mid-frequency noise. However, due to structural reasons, it is not suitable for high temperature, high humidity, and high-speed conditions.
2. Reactive silencer: It reduces noise by changing the cross-section. The commonly used silencing static pressure boxes operate on this principle. It generally reduces mid and low-frequency noise without specific requirements for the air system.
3. Impedance composite: This combines the structural principles of the two. It can eliminate low, mid, and high-frequency noise, but the requirements for the air system are the same as those for resistive silencers. Resistive silencers have good mid and high-frequency noise reduction performance. Depending on the geometric shape of the airflow channel, they can be divided into straight pipe type, plate type, baffle type, maze type, honeycomb type, sound flow type, barrier type, elbow type, etc. Reactive silencers are suitable for eliminating mid-low frequency noise or narrowband noise. Based on their operating principles, they can be divided into various types such as expansion type, resonance chamber type, and interference type. Impedance composite silencers include acoustic filtering devices such as resonance chambers, expansion chambers, and perforated screens, integrating the good mid and high-frequency noise reduction characteristics of resistive silencers and the better low-frequency noise reduction characteristics of reactive silencers. Therefore, their noise reduction frequency band is wide, and they are one of the most commonly used standard silencer series. The suitable wind speed is 6 to 8 meters/second, with a maximum of 8 to 12 meters, and they can be used alone or in series. Noise reduction effect: low frequency 10 to 15 dB/m, mid frequency 15 to 25 dB/m, high frequency 25 to 30 dB/m, with an average resistance coefficient of 0.4. According to "Air Conditioning", noise-reducing elbows and static pressure boxes are both types of silencers.
Static pressure box
Function
1. It can convert part of the dynamic pressure into static pressure, allowing the air to blow further;
2. It can reduce noise;
3. It evenly distributes airflow;
4. The static pressure box can be used to reduce noise while obtaining uniform static pressure airflow, reducing dynamic pressure loss. It also has the function of a universal joint. Properly applying the static pressure box in the ventilation system can improve the overall performance of the ventilation system.
Setting principles:
1. When the duct requires a large diameter change, but the installation distance on site cannot meet the required length for the diameter change, consider making a static pressure box;
2. When the duct connects with air conditioning equipment (PAU, AHU, FAN, etc.), it is usually connected via a static pressure box.
